Bukomansimbi Security Tightens Measures Ahead of 2026 Polls

Authorities in Bukomansimbi District have assured residents of tightened security ahead of the 2026 general elections, stressing that all eligible voters will be free to participate in the electoral process without intimidation.

The assurance was given by the Bukomansimbi District Police Community Liaison Officer, William Lubega, during a district security meeting held at Budda Village in Kibinge Sub-county. The meeting brought together local leaders, security personnel and community members to discuss election preparedness and public safety.

Lubega said security deployment has been reinforced across the district to ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process. He noted that the police and other security agencies are committed to protecting voters, candidates and electoral officials before, during and after polling day.

He, however, expressed concern over reports that some individuals have begun intimidating residents and warning them against participating in the elections. Lubega described such acts as illegal and a gross violation of citizens’ constitutional rights.

“Voting is a fundamental right of every Ugandan. Anyone who intimidates or threatens voters to stop them from exercising this right will be dealt with according to the law,” Lubega warned.

The police community liaison officer urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, and to cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities, violence or acts of intimidation within their communities.

Local leaders at the meeting welcomed the assurances, noting that fears of election-related violence had been rising following isolated incidents of political tension in the district. They appealed to security agencies to act swiftly and impartially against anyone found disrupting peace.
