A section of investors in Jinja of Chinese and Indian origin have decried the high incidences of extortion by unscrupulous people who claim to be security operatives and other big government officials.
During a stakeholders security meeting, the investors revealed that the conmen go to their factories with fake introduction letters or identify cards and the trend has been persistent over time.
Security bosses led by the Jinja RDC Eric Sakwa assured the investors that their concerns will be dealt with.
The investors were given security tips ahead of the festive season.
The meeting was attended was attended by all security bosses attached to different security agencies in Jinja.
During the meeting some investors led by the Vice Chairman of Indian Association in Uganda Sanjiv Patel decried the extortion by people who claim to be attached to different security agencies and offices of influential government figures.
Sakwa encouraged the investors to ensure the plight of their workers especially wage payments and other emoluments are up to date.
He however scoffed at some investors who don't observe laws pertaining to the environment.
Jinja is one of the towns with the highest number of foreign investors owning factories and other businesses.
