The Auditor General, Edward Akol, has urged newly recruited staff to serve with integrity and uphold the Office of the Auditor General’s (OAG) core values.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at Hotel Africana, Kampala, where Mr. Akol presided over the induction of the new staff members.
“Serve with integrity and uphold the OAG's core values to promote efficient, effective, and transparent management of national resources,” Mr. Akol emphasized. He stressed the importance of maintaining high standards in auditing and ensuring accountability in the management of public funds.
Mr. Akol, who took office in July 2024, succeeding John F.S. Muwanga, has been vocal about the need for auditors to be proactive and employ innovative approaches to detect and prevent corruption. In previous statements, he highlighted the importance of field checks and engaging with the public to gather information on potential corruption cases.
The swearing-in ceremony marks a new chapter for the OAG, as it strengthens its capacity to audit and provide assurance on the management of public resources. The new staff members are expected to play a crucial role in promoting transparency and accountability in government operations.
