Forum for Democratic Change, Presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi has made his second appearance in Tororo District, arriving in Malaba Town Council via the Kwapa–Mella Road as he continues his campaign trail across the eastern region, seeking support for his presidential bid.
The presidential hopeful made a colorful entry into Malaba, accompanied by traditional Kadodi dancers and several FDC flag bearers from Tororo and neighboring districts.
The convoy snaked through Malaba’s main streets amid jubilant crowds before heading to Hereigns Secondary School playground, where Mafabi addressed his supporters.
While addressing the rally, Mafabi expressed concern over what he described as the dormant state of Malaba Town, which he attributed to the shifting of cargo clearance and forwarding operations to the Kenyan side of the border.
“You must take advantage of the border to earn a living, and this can only be done when we return clearing and forwarding operations to make the place busy,” said Mafabi.
Mafabi also decried the poor state of roads in the border town, blaming it on corruption and mismanagement. He vowed to fight corruption at all levels if given the mandate to lead the country.
“This is a very important border in this country, but look at the road infrastructure, it’s all dilapidated. We deserve better,” said Mafabi.
He further pledged to revamp the cotton sector, once a major source of income in the sub-region, and to revive cooperative societies that supported farmers before they collapsed.
Mafabi was accompanied by Patrick Amuriat Oboi, the FDC Party President, Geoffrey Ekanya, the Party Treasurer, and several FDC leaders from within and outside Tororo District.
