The Head of the State House Investors Unit, Col. Edith Nakalema, has held a high-level meeting with the Ambassador of Denmark to Uganda, Signe Winding Albjerg, to explore new pathways for accelerating Uganda’s 10X Growth Vision through targeted investments and strategic partnerships.
The discussions, held at the State House Investors Unit offices, focused on unlocking barriers to investment, fostering value addition, and positioning Uganda as a competitive hub for regional and global investors.
Both sides underscored the need to channel foreign direct investment into sectors that can trigger large-scale transformation, including agribusiness, manufacturing, and renewable energy.
Col Nakalema reaffirmed that the Unit’s core mission is to coordinate, fast-track, and de-risk investments while addressing bureaucratic hurdles that often discourage potential investors.
She emphasized that Uganda’s ambitious 10X Growth Strategy hinges on attracting high-impact investments that deliver technology, capital, and expertise.
“For Uganda to achieve tenfold growth, we must attract investments that bring technology, capital, and expertise, but most importantly, we must move away from exporting raw materials and embrace value addition across all sectors,” Nakalema said.
Ambassador Albjerg expressed Denmark’s readiness to support Uganda’s economic transformation journey through capacity building and inclusive partnerships.
She highlighted Denmark’s interest in sustainable energy, agro-industrialization, and digital innovation, saying such areas align well with Uganda’s growth targets.
“Uganda has immense potential. The right investments, especially in value addition, will not only create jobs but also boost exports and strengthen the economy,” she said.
The two leaders also explored ways to strengthen investor confidence, improve the business environment, and harness Uganda’s youthful population as a driver of innovation-led growth.
As Uganda intensifies efforts to align its investment climate with the 10X Growth Vision, the meeting between Col Nakalema and Amb Albjerg marks a renewed commitment to transforming Uganda into a value-driven, industrial, and globally competitive economy.
The State House Investors Unit pledged continued collaboration with Denmark and other development partners to unlock investment opportunities that promote sustainable development and shared prosperity for Ugandans.
