The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government, Ben Kumumanya, has instructed all local governments to include a zero-tolerance-to-corruption disclaimer in their job adverts as part of efforts to promote transparency and integrity in public service recruitment.
Speaking at a meeting with Human Resource Officers and Secretaries to District and City Service Commissions in Kampala, Kumumanya commended Masaka District for setting a positive example by clearly stating in its job adverts that government jobs are not for sale and that soliciting or offering bribes is illegal.
“All Local Governments must adopt this practice. It is a simple but powerful message that reinforces our collective fight against corruption and restores public confidence in the recruitment process,” Kumumanya said.
He cautioned public officers against bribery and manipulation, reminding them that they serve in trust for the people of Uganda.
Kumumanya also pledged the Ministry’s continued support to build the capacity of Human Resource Officers and Service Commissions, stressing that strong skills and teamwork are essential for improving service delivery.
“The Ministry of Local Government maintains a zero-tolerance stance on corruption. Every officer must remain principled and uphold the highest standards of professionalism,” he added.
The meeting, organized by the Ministry, brought together key stakeholders to discuss strategies for enhancing integrity and efficiency in public service management across local governments.
