Mufumbiro slapped with fresh incitement charges
The NUP deputy spokesperson was arrested last month and has been on remand since then but now it looks like his days behind the bars will continue for much longer even as nominations for the MP seat are taking place

Nakawa East MP hopeful Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro appeared Wednesday morning before Nakawa Magistrates Court, where he was charged with inciting National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters to commit acts of violence against security officers.

Mufumbiro, contesting on the NUP ticket, is already on remand at Luzira Prison over separate charges related to military-style training.

The NUP deputy spokesperson is also scheduled to appear later today at Kawempe Magistrates Court alongside nine other suspects.

At Nakawa, Grade One Magistrate Frank Nahamya said Mufumbiro pleaded not guilty to one count of incitement.
