Fact Check: Claim That President Museveni Is Hospitalised in Critical Condition Is False

A viral image shared online on 18th October 2025 claims that Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has been hospitalised in critical condition. The image, branded with the logo of “Mastardcesh Group,” shows a picture of the President alongside a photo of a hospital ward and carries the text: “Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni is hospitalised in critical condition.”

The image has been widely circulated on WhatsApp, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter), sparking speculation about the President’s health.

However, the Dismiss fake news desk has established that the claim is indeed misleading and false.

Whereas the claim was circulating, the President was meeting elders and leaders from Moyo and Obongi at Arua State Lodge.

There has been no statement from the State House of Uganda, the Presidential Press Unit, or any government agency confirming any health emergency involving the President. The President’s most recent public activities, including his ongoing political engagements and statements released this week, show no indication of illness or hospitalisation.

This is not the first time false claims about President Museveni’s health have circulated online. Similar rumours appeared in 2023 and 2024, many of which were later debunked. The account or page “Mastardcesh Group,” which circulated the latest version of this claim, has no track record as a credible news outlet and has previously shared misleading or satirical content.
