The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has pledged full support for the Pastors’ Children Network (PK Network), saying the group deserves formal inclusion in the Church’s governance and mission structures.
The Archbishop made the commitment on October 15, 2025, during a meeting with the network’s leadership at the Provincial Secretariat in Namirembe.
The discussions centered on strengthening fellowship among clergy and lay readers’ children, and empowering them to play a more active role in the life and mission of the Church.
“Being a pastor’s child is a blessing; you are part of the mission field God has already prepared,” Archbishop Kaziimba said, urging pastors’ children to embrace their identity and divine calling with confidence.
He acknowledged the challenges they face — from frequent relocations and financial constraints to high social expectations — but said such experiences build resilience and faith.
“You move often because of your parents’ transfers, you have to make new friends wherever you go, and sometimes you host guests when there is very little food at home," he said.
"These experiences shape your character. Have patience and perseverance — these are the tools God uses to mold great leaders."
Kaziimba said he would advocate for the formal recognition of pastors’ children within the Church’s structures and urged every diocese to support and integrate Pastors’ Children Networks into their ministries.
Ordinand Shem Kimera, President of the PK Network, praised the Archbishop’s commitment and said the organization is already making an impact.
“We need to mobilize pastors’ children into a united and productive team committed to building the Kingdom of God,” he said, citing initiatives such as caring for COVID-19 patients at Mengo Hospital and supporting the construction of diocesan pension houses.
The Archbishop’s pledge comes as the network plans to establish a Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (SACCO) to promote financial empowerment, savings, and mentorship among its members.
Rev. Canon Dr. Paul Kakooza, Director of Education Services at the Church of Uganda, noted that Church-founded universities already offer scholarships to clergy and their children.
He said he would lobby for additional opportunities to support the network’s education programs and scholarship appeals.
