Construction of a commercial airport in Kabaale Village, Buseruka sub county is on course and it is expected to be completed by 2022.
Mid this week, a team of over 10 European diplomats paid a courtesy visit to the 100 metre runaway to examine the progress of the commercial airport that will be used to transport oil related logistics.
Hugo Verbist, the Belgian ambassador to Uganda said: "We're impressed with the ongoing infrastructural works right away from the oil extraction to refinery and we commend the Uganda government for choosing infrastructural works as a first priority ".
The airport is being built by Colas ( a French and British company) together with SBI international at a cost of 264 million euros.
Construction which started in April 2018 is expected to be completed and the airport handed over in 2022.
The Hoima airport which sits on 29 square kilometres which is approximately 35 kilometres by road to the north - west of Hoima town is built to handle large cargo Boeing planes of more than 140 tonnes each.
Financing of the project is by UK government , UK export finance and Standard Chartered Bank.
