Thousands of believers flocked to Namirembe Cathedral Hill on Sunday for the 2025 Diocesan Convention, a vibrant open-air gathering that united Christians from across the Diocese and beyond.

The scenic gardens of the historic cathedral rang with fervent worship, choir performances, and powerful preaching that centered on resilience in the face of life’s trials.

The Rt. Rev. Patrick Wakula, Bishop of Central Busoga, delivered the main sermon, urging Christians to remain steadfast in God’s promises.

“Every trial leads to eventual victory,” he told the crowd. “Discouragement and hardness of heart are tools often used by the devil to weaken the faithful.”

Namirembe’s own Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Moses Banja, echoed the call for vigilance, urging Christians to draw closer to God in the face of fear.

“Satan continually roams seeking whom to devour,” he cautioned, while assuring worshippers that their very presence was proof of God’s victory in their lives.

Mrs. Gladys Kiragga, President of the Mothers’ Union in Namirembe Diocese, reflected on the growth of the evangelism program, recalling its humble beginnings with a mass wedding of 50 couples.

She celebrated how the initiative had since borne fruit, inspiring believers to spread the gospel in both word and deed.

The gathering featured choirs from parishes and schools, children’s performances, and spirited praise sessions that underscored the event’s family-centered character.

Among the dignitaries present was Minister for Government Affairs Betty Kamya, along with other prominent guests, highlighting the occasion’s wider significance.

For many attendees, the convention was more than an annual tradition; it was a moment of collective renewal, testimony, and encouragement.

With messages of steadfastness and unity, the Namirembe Diocesan Convention 2025 reaffirmed its enduring role as a cornerstone of Christian fellowship in Uganda.
