The engagement showcased NMS’s pivotal role in ensuring the availability of essential medicines and medical supplies nationwide.

During the visit, communicators were introduced to the NMS Delivery Monitoring Tool (DMT), a system that provides real-time updates on medicine dispatch and delivery.

SMS notifications are sent directly to RDCs, MPs, CAOs, DHOs, and DISOs, while GPS-enabled trucks and strategically placed cameras ensure full transparency from dispatch to delivery.

Mr. Moses Kamabare, NMS General Manager, emphasized that the technology strengthens accountability and builds trust with stakeholders and the public.

“Officials are equipped to monitor and ensure that the medicines delivered are properly utilized," he said.

"Alongside GPS-enabled NMS trucks and strategically placed cameras in our vehicles, this technology provides full transparency from dispatch to delivery, improving accountability and building trust with both stakeholders and the public."

Kamabare also highlighted the importance of preventive health communication, noting that over 75% of diseases in Uganda are preventable.

“While medicines are important, prevention is even better. As communicators, we urge you to share messages that empower citizens to live healthier lives,” he said.

NMS, a government agency mandated to procure, store, and distribute medicines and medical supplies, serves over 3,400 government health facilities across Uganda.

The visit underscored both the innovative capacity of NMS and the critical role of effective communication in promoting government achievements and improving health outcomes.
