Kampala Central Division Mayor Salim Uhuru has been officially nominated to contest for re-election, with the exercise conducted by returning officer Robert Mugabe at the Electoral Commission (EC) offices in Kamwokya.
Speaking shortly after his nomination, Uhuru appealed to voters to judge him by his performance during his current term.
“I ask the people of Kampala Central to vote for me again based on my deeds, not just words, because that is what makes me different from other leaders,” he said.
The incumbent emphasized his service record as the foundation of his campaign, noting that accountability in leadership should be measured through tangible achievements.
He joins a field of aspirants seeking to lead Kampala Central Division in the upcoming polls, which the EC says are progressing smoothly across the city. Officials stressed that the nomination process is being conducted with fairness and transparency.
With campaigns now underway, residents of Kampala Central will weigh Uhuru’s record in office against the pledges of rival candidates before heading to the ballot.
