Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Rwashande, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for Lwemiyaga Constituency and former UPDF Chief of Civil-Military Cooperation, has called on young people to focus on self-employment rather than blaming government for the rising unemployment rates.

Speaking to members of the Bishop Stuart University Kazo Students’ Association on Friday, Rwashande said the NRM government has already laid a strong foundation for youth empowerment through peace and education.

“The skills you gain from universities should not only prepare you to look for jobs but also to create your own employment. You should stop putting government at ransom for jobs and instead focus on turning your ideas into opportunities,” he added.

The NRM flag bearer emphasized that education is a powerful tool for transformation, encouraging the youth to use it as a pathway to address economic challenges within their communities.

The meeting at Bishop Stuart University premises was part of Brig. Gen. Rwashande’s engagement in the region.
