The sacred halls of St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Church in Ntinda were filled with hymns, prayers, and deep emotion as the faithful gathered to celebrate the 25th priestly anniversary of Reverend Father Kizito Kiyimba, Reverend Joseph Kirumira, and Reverend Edward Muwanga.
The event, held on Saturday, drew distinguished guests including Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among, Prince David Kintu Wasajja and his wife, government officials, clergy, and parishioners.
Speaker Among delivered a moving address, acknowledging the priests not only as spiritual leaders but also as human beings who face challenges.
“These men of God, these pillars of our faith, are also human beings,” she said. “They experience hardships, and they deserve our unwavering support and prayers.”
Her remarks struck a powerful chord, highlighting the often-unseen struggles of religious leaders and calling for greater empathy from communities.
She emphasized that priests should not be viewed as infallible but as individuals who require both spiritual and practical support to sustain their mission.
Monsignor Lawrence Ssemusu, head of St Charles Lwanga Church, praised the three priests’ dedication, describing their 25 years of service as a testimony of perseverance, faith, and commitment to nurturing spiritual growth.
