C-Care Uganda Joins Rotary to Lead the Fight Against Cancer at 2025 Run

By | September 1, 2025

The 2025 Rotary Cancer Run transformed Kololo Independence Grounds into a sea of hope and resilience as thousands of Ugandans gathered to stand against one of the country’s greatest health challenges – cancer.

At the heart of this year’s edition was C-Care Uganda, which served as the official medical partner. Its medical team provided first aid, emergency response, hydration, and post-run wellness checks, ensuring participants could run with confidence, knowing their health and safety were in capable hands.

The run carried a bold mission: to raise shs 4 billion for the completion of a radiotherapy centre at Nsambya Hospital.

The facility will be equipped with two linear accelerator (LINAC) machines, representing a milestone in Uganda’s fight against cancer by expanding access to advanced treatment options.

With cases of cervical, breast, and prostate cancers on the rise, the need for such infrastructure has become increasingly urgent.

Speaking at the event, Sheila Aboth, Head of Brand and Client Experience at C-Care Uganda, praised the unity on display.

“The energy here today is truly electric. For C-Care, being the medical partner is about standing shoulder-to-shoulder with every runner, survivor, and family touched by cancer. Together, we are proving that cancer is not invincible.”

Her sentiments were echoed by Dr. Miriam Mutero Musinga, General Manager of C-Care IHK, who emphasized the deeper purpose behind the partnership.

“Our collaboration with the Rotary Cancer Run reflects our mission of delivering trusted, world-class healthcare. The work our team has done today is only a glimpse of the larger fight to raise awareness, drive early detection, and provide advanced treatment. It is a giant leap for healthcare in Uganda.”

According to the Uganda Cancer Institute, nearly 33,000 Ugandans are diagnosed with cancer every year—a staggering figure that underscores the urgent need for stronger prevention, early detection, and expanded treatment access.

The Rotary Cancer Run, supported by partners like C-Care, continues to symbolize collective action, hope, and progress towards a future where cancer is no longer seen as a death sentence but a battle that can be fought and won.
