The Rotary Club of Entebbe Base has been hailed for its strong commitment to community service and global Rotary goals, with District Governor Christine Kyeyune Kawooya commending the club during her official visit.
The event, held to mark the first 57 days of the Rotary year, showcased the club’s achievements, including a contribution of $7,650 (Shs 28.4 million) to Rotary International.
Kawooya said the gesture underlined the club’s dedication to advancing Rotary’s mission.
“These projects will be able to attract new members to join the club. Maternal and child health are some of the key projects that I requested all clubs to handle and implement this year," she said.
"This club has identified Kitala Health Centre IV in Katabi Town Council, which they will renovate and tile to ensure that patients receive better services."
Kawooya urged members to embrace a culture of selfless giving.
“I would love to call upon all Rotarians to give freely and selflessly. That is the channel we can only use to raise funds to implement some of these projects,” she added.
Rotarian Eva Mugide, the President of the Rotary Club of Entebbe Base, unveiled plans for a maternal health project at Kitala Health Centre Ward as part of the club’s broader community agenda.
She said the club was focusing on maternal and child health as well as water and sanitation, adding that these areas would define their impact during the Rotary year.
“Our focus is maternal and child health as well as water and sanitation. Today we celebrate most of our achievements. I know by the end of the Rotary year we will have achieved most of what is expected,” Mugide said.
The gathering highlighted the club’s achievements while reinforcing Rotary’s ethos of “service above self.”
With investments in health services and sustained contributions to global Rotary programs, the Entebbe Base club continues to expand its reach and impact within the community.
