Ugandan Scholar Makes History at Prestigious Quran Competition

Sheikh Abdallah Sajid Mutyaaba has etched his name in history as the first Ugandan judge at the 45th King Abdul Aziz International Quran Competition, held in Saudi Arabia. This prestigious competition, which has been running since 1980, saw participation from 128 countries and 167 contestants, including two representatives from Uganda.

Upon his return, Sheikh Mutyaaba was accorded a warm welcome by Sheikh Hamid Sseruwadda, Regional Assistant to the Mufti of Uganda, Kampala District, and his students from Markaz Darul Ulum Al Islamiya Buddo. During the reception, Sheikh Mutyaaba urged parents to encourage their children to memorise the Quran, emphasising that it would bring benefits that would change their lives and impact their communities positively.
