The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr. Steven Kazimba Mugalu, has warned Ugandans against engaging in electoral violence, regardless of their political party affiliation.
While preaching at the grand opening of All Saints Church Rwamatunguru and the thanksgiving service of Prof. Henry Mwanaki and his wife, Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe, the NRM flag bearer for Woman Member of Parliament Rukiga district, the Archbishop stressed the importance of peaceful conduct before, during, and after the polls
Dr. Kazimba urged believers and citizens to avoid violence, hate speech, and divisionism during the election period, instead be guided by love, tolerance, and the fear of God.
" Ugandans must have peaceful elections, not elections of accusing each other. Politicians should instead show what they intend to do for the electorate and that is how God will reward one as a winner but not by creating hatred among the people."Dr.Kazimba noted.
Kazimba added that every politician should clearly present their plans and convince voters based on what they can deliver, rather than attacking opponents.
"Whether one opponent belong to any political party, do not disgrace anyone but to use one’s party to show what you will do for the people, not to attack other parties. " Dr. Kazimba added.
The National Vice Chairman of PLU,Micheal Kaguta Niwagira aka Toyota urged people to remember and not to repeat what happened in the just concluded NRM primaries, but instead to unite as NRM members to avoid being defeated by the opposition
While speaking to the congregation, Dr.Sylivia Alinaitwe the NRM flag bearer woman MP for Rukiga district explained that the project serves as both a worship center and community development symbol.
Dr. Alinaitwe and her husband believed it was right to build this church as a way of thanking God for the countless blessings they have received throughout their lives
"I expressed gratitude to believers, well-wishers, and church leaders who supported the project, particularly the Archbishop Kazimba for his spiritual guidance and presence at both the groundbreaking and consecration ceremonies."Alinaitwe said.
