Next Media Group Chief Executive Officer Kin Kariisa has received the instruments of power as President of the Kigo 7 Lakes Rotary Golf Club, taking over from outgoing president Rotarian John Muchiri.
The handover, held on the evening of Friday, June 28, marked a significant leadership transition for one of Uganda’s fastest-growing Rotary clubs.
Muchiri’s term formally ends on Monday, June 30, with Kariisa’s presidency beginning at midnight.
In a ceremony attended by Rotarians, business leaders, and community stakeholders, Kariisa expressed both gratitude and optimism for the opportunity to serve.
“I take on this role not because I must, but because I love to serve humanity,” Kariisa said. “I have done Rotary work long before I officially became a Rotarian, and now, I’m excited to serve with all of our members.”
Known for his results-driven leadership style, Kariisa pledged to build on the club’s foundation by championing at least one impactful community project annually. He reaffirmed his commitment to collective service, emphasizing shared leadership and accountability.
“This won’t be a one-man race. We shall lead together. Keep each other in check. Where I’m too fast, I’ve asked them to slow me down. Too slow? To push me forward,” he said.
Kariisa also laid out a vision for inclusive, action-oriented leadership that will elevate the club’s role in local development.
The Kigo 7 Lakes Rotary Golf Club comprises a diverse membership of professionals committed to making lasting contributions through philanthropy, mentorship, and service.
Club members hailed Kariisa’s assumption of office as a turning point, citing his media influence, governance experience, and social commitment as assets to the club’s mission.
While the handover ceremony signaled the beginning of his leadership, Kariisa clarified that his official installation will take place on July 25.
“Though we had the handover today, my official term begins after Monday midnight. The journey truly begins on July 25, with our installation. I’m looking forward to making this Rotary year count for each one of us, and for the communities we serve,” he said.
As he assumes the presidency, Kariisa joins a distinguished line of Ugandan Rotary leaders who continue to uphold the organisation’s enduring motto: Service Above Self.
