The Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), Col. Edith Nakalema has emphasized the importance of proper use of internet, especially for learners.

“Social media is diverting our young people because they are growing up in an information age where they are seeing so much diverting their attention. There are lots of pornography on social media and unwanted information they access on phones and computers is a lot ,” Col Nakalema said.

She was on Friday visiting and interacting with students at Kitebi Secondary School in Kampala.

Col Nakalema said whereas internet is good, learners ought to be guided on how to use it .

“I am insisting on these students should be limited on accessing useless information on internet. If there can be applications which can have only educative information, should be adopted. Schools should limit access of social media and any information that comes digitally if there is need for limit. While it is good, others can misuse it,” she said.

She applauded the school which is currently implementing the Universal Secondary Education(USE) headed by Hajji Muhammad Kamulegeya for changing fortunes for learners.

“This is the best USE school I have known. I have previously known this school to be good but today, looking at the structures, organization and staff, I was amused.’

She urged learners to always trust God in whatever they do.
