A recent audio clip circulating on TikTok and other social media platforms, allegedly featuring Uganda’s Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, has been confirmed as fake.
The clip, which purports to capture Speaker Among making controversial remarks, is part of a growing wave of digitally manipulated content aimed at misleading the public.
There is no credible evidence supporting the authenticity of this recording.
Forensic analysis has determined that the audio does not match any previously authenticated recordings of the Speaker.
The Parliament of Uganda has officially dismissed the clip as fake.
In a statement, Parliament said:
“We have been made aware of an audio clip circulating on social media, attributed to the Rt. Hon. Speaker Anitah Among. The clip is fake and unfounded.”
The public is strongly urged to disregard this fabricated content, which is clearly intended to spread misinformation and incite division.
Speaker Among has consistently spoken out against the dangers of misinformation.
In June 2022, she announced plans for legislation to curb the spread of false information, particularly within the media.
This initiative underscores her commitment to protecting the public from the harmful effects of disinformation.
The DisMis Desk has reviewed the circulating audio and confirms it is fabricated and deliberately misleading.
As digital manipulation tools become increasingly sophisticated, it is more important than ever for individuals to critically assess the content they consume and share.
Relying on verified sources and maintaining media literacy are essential in the fight against misinformation.
