Mpuuga, Bwanika plotted to eliminate me- MP Nyeko

Makindye East MP, Derrick Nyeko, has accused Mathias Mpuuga, the national coordinator of the Democratic Alliance, and his associate Abed Bwanika of plotting to eliminate him after he confronted them about corruption.

Nyeko, a legislator from the National Unity Platform (NUP), made these allegations on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

"After confronting them about corruption, I refused to be a part of their twisted corruption schemes. They even had the nerve to discuss eliminating me at one point," Nyeko posted.

The youthful legislator also accused Mpuuga of engaging in tribalism, claiming that he was often denied assignments and that they were given to Bwanika instead, due to his background.

"I couldn’t believe the blatant tribalism and corruption that Mathias Mpuuga has allowed to fester right at his doorstep. I've never experienced such discrimination based on my background before, just like Mpuuga always seems to highlight," Nyeko said

He added, "He even had the audacity to send Abed Bwanika to the president's home for a reason as trivial as not trusting someone from Dokolo."

Nyeko further alleged that after confronting the two about their corrupt activities, he refused to be involved in their 'twisted schemes.'

Based on these accusations, Nyeko expressed disbelief that someone like Mpuuga would even consider running for the presidency.

This comes just weeks after Mpuuga urged voters, especially those in the Buganda region, to make wise choices in the upcoming 2026 elections.

Mpuuga stressed the importance of electing leaders who will amplify the voices of the people in Buganda, rather than those who remain silent once they take office.

"I sympathise with the voters of Makindye East for electing an MP who cannot voice a single word on the floor of Parliament," Mpuuga said.
