Tooro Kingdom Delegation Engages in Cultural Diplomacy with Bunyoro

Tooro Kingdom is actively pursuing cultural diplomacy by engaging with fellow cultural institutions to exchange ideas, benchmark developments, and explore collaborative opportunities.

The initiative is led by the newly appointed Prime Minister, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, and his Deputy, Henry Basaliza.

Today, the delegation held high-level discussions with the Omukama (King) of Bunyoro and his team. A traditional cultural dance welcomed the Tooro Kingdom representatives, symbolizing unity and collaboration between the two kingdoms.

The primary goal of the visit was to foster mutual growth through the exchange of ideas, evaluation of development projects, and identification of joint opportunities.

Prime Minister Akiiki, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Basaliza and other senior officials, was warmly received by Bunyoro’s premier.

They engaged in discussions in the premier’s office before touring significant historical landmarks and ongoing projects in Bunyoro, gaining insights into the kingdom’s development initiatives.

Deputy Prime Minister Basaliza expressed that Tooro Kingdom has much to learn from Bunyoro, considering their shared rich history and cultural ties.

Hoima City Mayor Brian Kaboyo echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the two kingdoms.

The visit included a tour of the under-construction Hoima Stadium, followed by a closed-door meeting with the King of Bunyoro. After their visit to Bunyoro, the Tooro Kingdom delegation plans to engage with other cultural institutions to strengthen relations further.
