Speaking at the partyโs Kyadondo headquarters, NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong revealed that the first phase of the exercise, concluded on December 30, 2024, verified 18.5 million members and registered 7,636,579 new members.
The second phase aims to address issues encountered during the initial digital process, such as errors in membersโ names, underage registrations, and improper name recordings.
โWe are determined to resolve all challenges from the first phase to ensure a comprehensive and accurate register,โ Todwong said.
He urged district registrars and administrators to remain diligent and avoid repeating past mistakes, emphasizing the significance of the exercise for both the party and the country.
The NRM leadership has also stressed the importance of dual registration, encouraging members to register with both the party and the Electoral Commission to secure their participation in the upcoming elections.
In addition, Todwong announced plans to transfer NRM district chairpersons to the Ministry of Local Government in recognition of their vital contributions to their respective areas.
The voter register update is part of the partyโs broader strategy to strengthen its grassroots support and streamline preparations for the 2026 elections.
