UPDF Receives Shs63m Paint Donation from Sadolin
The UPDF said paint worth Shs63 million is no small donation

Tarehe Sita, commemorated annually on February 6, marks the launch of the 1981 guerrilla war following the attack on Kabamba.

The Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces (UPDF) has received a donation of paint valued at Shs63 million from Sadolin Paint Uganda to support the upcoming Tarehe Sita Anniversary celebrations.

This year's event will be held in the Greater Masaka region, encompassing nine districts and one city.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Brig Gen Michael Kibuye, director of Civil-Military Cooperation, expressed his appreciation for Sadolin’s contribution.

"Paint worth Shs63 million is no small donation. It will significantly enhance the appearance of Greater Masaka in preparation for this year's Tarehe Sita celebrations," Brig Kibuye said.

"The paint will be delivered to the region today, and we are committed to completing the painting ahead of the festivities."

Col Deo Akiiki, deputy director of Defence Public Information, highlighted the role of partnerships in addressing community needs during Tarehe Sita activities.

"When we assess the needs of these regions, they often exceed billions of shillings, with wish lists reaching up to Shs50 billion," he said.

"However, our focus is on quick-impact projects that deliver immediate benefits to communities. Tarehe Sita is special because it involves tangible actions that directly impact the people we serve. It’s not just a celebration of our anniversary but a commitment to giving back to the community."

Representing Sadolin Paint Uganda, Mr. Ashish Devani reaffirmed the company’s dedication to community-driven initiatives.

"Sadolin has been part of Uganda for over 50 years, and our success is deeply intertwined with the people of this nation. Partnering with the UPDF for Tarehe Sita is an opportunity to give back to the community that has supported us for decades," Mr Devani said.

Tarehe Sita, commemorated annually on February 6, marks the launch of the 1981 guerrilla war following the attack on Kabamba.

The celebrations feature activities that aim to uplift communities across Uganda, cementing the UPDF’s legacy of service beyond security.
