Buganda queen hails role of technology in improving lives in Uganda

The queen of Buganda kingdom Nnaabageraka Sylvia Nagginda has applauded the introduction of technology whichย  she said has contributed a lot in development of the country and changing people's life at large .

Speaking during the closure of EKisakaate of 2025 at St. Janan SSS Bombo Kalule Nnaabageraka gave an example of how the technology was very helpful especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when the students embraced e- learning .

"We are glad that majority of the schools and parents embraced the new innovation and provided support to have e-learing in place to keep our children in class despite being away from schools, "she said.

She added that technology has helped Ugandans to come up with different innovations which have helped them to prove their income status.

"I am very sure that all the youth who have attended this year 's Kisakaate have been trained on how they can use technology without being harassed and abused by the culprits. Iย  urge you to be the ambasaddors of Ekisakaate through using the knowledge you have gained from Ekisakaate initiative. "

Nnaabageraka also cautioned youth on avoiding groups which can lead them to bad acts like drug abuse which is now among the youths are facing

"We appeal to parents to be closer to their children and to know the people whom they are surrounding, "she said

The prime minister of the Buganda kingdom Charles Peter Mayiga said that this year's theme of embracing culture through technology has helped the young generation to research about their culture and origin.

"Technology is the way to go and I urge the young generation to use all the available opportunities to learn and research about meaningful topics."

He also urged parents to become friends to their children because it's the only way they can express what they are going through.

" During this era of technology parents are supposed to be vigilant on how their children are using internets to avoid being influenced by internet.

Over 460 children from different regions of the countryย  have attended this year's Ekisaakaate.

The closing ceremony was also attended by Charlotte Kainerugaba, the wife of Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainergaba.
