Mubaje praises Burundi’s Muslim community for smooth leadership transition

The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has commended the Muslim community in Burundi for ensuring a seamless transition of leadership.

His message was delivered by Uganda’s Deputy Mufti, Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, during the installation ceremony of His Eminence Sheikh Ssalum Nayabagobo as the new Mufti of Burundi.

The colorful ceremony took place at the Giteega National Football Stadium in Burundi’s administrative city of Giteega and attracted thousands of faithful.

Mr. Ndikuriyo Reverien, the National Chairman of Burundi’s ruling party, represented the government at the event.

Delivering Mufti Mubaje’s message, Sheikh Waiswa praised the unity and loyalty displayed by the Muslim community in Burundi.

He highlighted the large turnout as a testament to their commitment to supporting the new Mufti and urged them to sustain their cooperation to enable effective implementation of developmental programs.

Sheikh Waiswa also conveyed greetings and a message of goodwill from Mufti Mubaje, emphasizing the importance of unity and progress within the Muslim community.

He shared updates on developments within the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), drawing parallels between the two countries’ efforts to strengthen Muslim leadership.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Ndikuriyo Reverien, lauded the Muslim community for their dedication and their well-organized ceremony, which he described as a showcase of faith and commitment.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the new Muslim leadership under Mufti Nayabagobo.

The installation ceremony marked a significant milestone for the Muslim community in Burundi, ushering in a new era of unity and progress under the leadership of Mufti Sheikh Ssalum Nayabagobo.
