UBTEB donates essential items worth sh14m to UWESO centre

In a moving ceremony, the Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB)  has donated essential items worth shs14,070,000 to the UWESO Centre, a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable children.

The donation included a wide range of items, such as food, scholastic materials, hygiene essentials, branded items, and assorted toys and sports items.

The food items included 150kg of rice, 100kg of posho, 100kg of sugar, 20 liters of cooking oil, 1 carton of salt, and 10 soda cartons.

The scholastic materials included 100 dozens of branded 96-page exercise books, 100 geometry sets, and 3 branded compound signposts. These items are expected to support the children's education and help them to excel in their studies.

The hygiene essentials included sanitary pads for 42 girls, 4 boxes of laundry bar soap, 80 liters of liquid soap, and 160 pieces of toilet paper. These items are crucial in maintaining the children's health and hygiene.

The branded items included 100 branded wristwatches, 120 branded t-shirts for children and staff, and UBTEB brochures and fliers. These items will help to promote UBTEB's brand and create awareness about its activities.

The assorted toys and sports items will bring joy and entertainment to the children, helping to create a conducive environment for their growth and development.

UBTEB Executive Secretary, Onesmus Oyesigye, expressed gratitude while  presenting the donation, emphasizing that the items were not merely donations, but expressions of hope, care, and solidarity as part of UBTEB's Corporate Social Responsibility.

"With immense gratitude and joy, I stand before you today to officially hand over these donations to the UWESO Centre," Oyesigye said.

"This occasion marks a significant milestone in our shared commitment to supporting the vulnerable members of our community—our children."

Oyesigye commended the UWESO team for their dedication to the welfare of children and thanked partners, Reproductive Health Uganda, for their continuous support in advancing the call for positive and healthy living, and abstinence in efforts to prevent and control HIV/AIDS among teenagers.

"To our partners, Reproductive Health Uganda, UBTEB takes pride in your continuous partnerships in advancing the call for positive and Healthy living, and abstinence in our efforts to prevent and control HIV/AIDS among the teenagers," Oyesigye said.

The donation is expected to bring comfort, joy, and a sense of belonging to the children, reminding them that they are valued, loved, and capable of achieving greatness as they pursue their dream careers.

"More importantly, I hope they will serve as a reminder that they are valued, loved, and capable of achieving greatness as they grow to pursue their dream careers."

The ceremony marked a significant milestone in UBTEB's commitment to supporting vulnerable children and promoting social causes.

"Let us continue to work together to uplift and empower those in need in order to build a brighter future for all. Together, we can make a difference—one step, one act of kindness, and one life at a time. We pledge our commitment to continue to champion social causes to advance the plight of Ugandans through partnership and collaborations," Oyesigye said.

The donation was met with gratitude and appreciation from the UWESO Centre, with the centre's management expressing their heartfelt thanks to UBTEB for their generosity and support.

The ceremony was attended by UBTEB staff, UWESO Centre management, and representatives from Reproductive Health Uganda. It was a moment of joy and celebration, marking a significant milestone in UBTEB's commitment to supporting vulnerable children and promoting social causes.
