Mpuuga Accuses NUP Leadership of Failing Opposition Unity

Nyendo-Mukungwe MP and Parliamentary Commissioner Mathias Mpuuga has once again criticised the leadership of the National Unity Platform (NUP) under Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, accusing them of lacking focus on alternative policies and opposition unity.

Speaking during NBS Television's Morning Breeze show, Mpuuga said, "I don’t think my friends at Kavule [NUP headquarters] are interested in the alternative policies." He added, "I don't think they are aware that the opposition is stuck and that the opposition needs unity."

Mpuuga’s remarks come in the wake of his recent launch of the Democratic Alliance, a pressure group he described as a platform to bring opposition forces together in the effort to unseat President Yoweri Museveni, who has been in power for nearly 40 years.

In his appeal, Mpuuga emphasised the need for opposition groups to revisit their collective vision. "We need to dream again and work together again," he noted, underscoring the urgency of collaboration among opposition leaders to challenge the current political status quo.
