Emorimor calls for unity as Ateker festival closes

The Emorimor, Papa Paul Sande Emolot, has made a clarion call to the Ateker people, urging them to end internal discrimination and embrace unity, as the Ateker Festival came to a colorful conclusion.

While Addressing a large gathering on a last day in Soroti sports ground, Emorimor emphasized the need for collective effort to achieve social and economic transformation in the region.

“Discrimination amongst ourselves must stop. Together, we can move forward and achieve greater things. A new journey to the promised land has begun,” Emorimor stated, igniting hope and a sense of responsibility among attendees.

The cultural festival, held annually, brings together Ateker communities from Uganda and neighboring countries, including the Iteso, Turkana, and Karimojong, to celebrate their shared heritage and discuss developmental challenges.

In his address, Emorimor commended the government for its efforts in improving the lives of the Ateker people.

He noted that the government’s support for the festival laid a strong foundation for Ateker progress,

He also called on the Ateker people to work harder and take advantage of economic opportunities, emphasizing the need to integrate into the money economy.

“There is a need for the Ateker to work hard, ensure good education, and improve housing. These are critical steps toward a better future,” he said.

Emorimor highlighted the importance of unity and harmony in achieving these goals. “From today, let us promote peace, love, and unity. Together, we can overcome challenges and build a prosperous Ateker,” he urged.

Addressing the youth, Emorimor reminded them of their role as future leaders, encouraging them to heed the guidance of elders.

“Listen to the advice of the elders because you are our future leaders. Your dedication and hard work will shape the future of Ateker,” he remarked.

He further called on community leaders to prioritize education, stressing that sending children to school is a collective responsibility.

“It is the responsibility of Ateker leadership to ensure that our children go to school. Education is the key to unlocking opportunities for our children and the entire community,” he added.

The Ateker Festival, an annual cultural and social event, aims to foster unity, celebrate heritage, and address issues affecting the Ateker people.

This year’s festival featured cultural performances, discussions on development, and a call for solidarity in tackling common challenges.

As the festival concluded, participants echoed Emorimor’s message of unity and progress, pledging to work together to build a brighter future for Ateker.
