The Uganda Prisons Service, in partnership with Justice Defenders and the University of London, will host a historic graduation ceremony  for inmates and staff.

The ceremony to be held at Uganda Prisons Upper, Luzira, on Thursday will celebrate the academic achievements of 18 individuals, including inmates, staff, and ex-prisoners, who have successfully completed Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degrees.

Themed "Unlikely Allies: Transforming Prisons, Communities, and Justice from Within," the ceremony will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., drawing stakeholders from across national, regional, and international platforms.

According to Frank Baine, senior commissioner of prisons, this milestone underscores the transformative potential of education within the justice system.

By working with partners like Justice Defenders and the University of London, the Uganda Prisons Service continues to inspire hope and drive meaningful change.

As Baine stated, the achievements of these graduates demonstrate the power of “unlikely allies” in reshaping lives and fostering stronger communities.
