The National Planning Authority (NPA) has initiated consultations with local governments as part of the development process for Uganda’s fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV).
The consultative meetings, which bring together district and municipal leaders, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and private sector representatives, aim to ensure the plan reflects diverse perspectives and addresses local priorities.
NDP IV will serve as the blueprint for Uganda’s socio-economic transformation over the next five years. The plan seeks to build on the achievements and lessons learned from previous development strategies, focusing on sustainable growth, service delivery, and poverty reduction.
During the consultations, stakeholders are sharing insights on challenges, opportunities, and priorities for their regions. The NPA has emphasised the importance of incorporating local government input to align national goals with grassroots needs.
The consultations underscore the government’s commitment to participatory planning as Uganda moves toward achieving Vision 2040. The NDP IV will be instrumental in driving progress across key sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure development.
The collaborative approach is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the plan, ensuring it addresses the unique needs of Uganda’s diverse communities.
