Brigadier-General William Bainomugisha, Commandant of the Military Police Brigade, called on 53 rehabilitated inmates set for release at Makindye Military Police Headquarters to maintain discipline and steer clear of criminal activities.
He highlighted the high costs of managing detainees, which strain welfare resources and manpower.
This group marks the second cohort to undergo rehabilitation, focusing on skill-building and fostering a positive outlook to reduce reoffending.
Col. Okei Rukogota, from the Joint Staff Political Commissariat, urged the inmates to respect superiors, emphasizing discipline as vital for success. “The UPDF views you as potential heroes, investing in your brighter future,” he said.
The event was attended by senior officers of the Military Police Brigade.
