Police have confirmed the arrest of Patrick Mulwana, alias Alien Skin, following allegations of assaulting medical staff and security guards at Nsambya Hospital on Tuesday.
"We have in our custody musician Patrick Mulwana, alias Alien Skin, whom we apprehended on allegations of assaulting medical staff at Nsambya Hospital," said police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke.
The incident, which left two security guards and a doctor injured, allegedly involved members of Alien Skin’s Fan Gone Forest Entertainment group.
Earlier, Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire stated that investigations are ongoing and promised that all those responsible will face justice.
“One individual, identified by witnesses as ‘Alien Skin,’ allegedly demanded medical forms from the attending doctor. When his demands were not met, he and his group reportedly assaulted the doctor and two security guards before fleeing the scene,” Owoyesigyire said on Wednesday.
The altercation is believed to have been sparked by the death of Joram Tumwesigye, a member of the Fan Gone group, who passed away on Tuesday after being admitted to Nsambya Hospital.
Tumwesigye reportedly died from injuries sustained in an accident near the group’s Makindye headquarters, a situation that escalated tensions between the group and hospital staff.
The victims of the attack include Dr Zaidi Matovu and security guards Anthony Muyanda and Alex Odongo, all employees of Nsambya Hospital.
In a video circulating online, one of the victims recounted being attacked while attempting to call for help.
"I was trying to call my people to come and rescue us because these people were very many," the victim said.
A video shared on social media shows Alien Skin and his group in a heated exchange with hospital staff, with some individuals appearing to physically confront the employees.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, particularly on social media, where many Ugandans have demanded the arrest and prosecution of Alien Skin and his associates.
The Sitya Danger singer has faced criticism for alleged lawlessness and controversies, including accusations of his gang attacking critics and fellow artists.
Police have assured the public that efforts to bring all perpetrators to justice are ongoing.
Alien Skin remains in custody as investigations continue.
The arrest of Alien Skin will not shock many. He has been courting trouble in society much like City socialite Charles Olimi, aka Sipapa, before him.
Sipapa, who has gained notoriety for impunity in public spaces, was in 2020 arrested along with his girlfriend Shakila Nakiyembe and charged with aggravated robbery, among others charges.
