A coordinated security operation has led to the arrest of two suspected criminals, identified as Jema Ismail (54) and Dramani Brian Abele (42), in Oli-D Cell, Tanganyika Ward, Central Division of Arua City.
The operation, carried out by intelligence and joint security forces, resulted in the recovery of a range of items, including a pair of Congolese military uniforms, three sets of old UPDF uniforms, a UPDF T-shirt stained with blood, two ammunition magazines with one bullet, ten million shillings, a new motorcycle without a license plate, a machete, and military boots.
Lt Col Bainomugisha, Commander of the 409 Brigade, confirmed that security forces are intensifying operations to crack down on criminal elements in Arua City and along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
“Our intelligence-led operations to neutralize crime in the city and along the border will continue throughout the festive season,” Col Bainomugisha stated, adding that the goal is to ensure a peaceful Christmas and New Year for residents and businesspeople.
The two suspects are believed to have been involved in the murder of a gold dealer in Congo near Odramachaku, along the border, two weeks ago. Both suspects are now being held at Arua Central Police Station, where investigations are ongoing.
