The  Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, has made history as the newly elected Vice Chairperson of the Conference of Speakers and Presidents of African Legislatures (COSPAL).

This prestigious position was conferred upon her at the 2nd General Assembly of COSPAL in Accra, Ghana.

Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa praised Among's achievement, saying, "Your election as Vice Chairperson is a testament to your unwavering commitment to Pan-African ideals and your ability to devise innovative solutions to address the continent's pressing issues from a legislative perspective."

Among's leadership is expected to significantly impact Africa's legislative agenda. As Tayebwa noted, "Your leadership will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping Africa's legislative priorities."

Anita Among brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served as Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda since 2022 and previously as Deputy Speaker.

Her dedication to promoting economic development, financial inclusion and social welfare programs aligns with COSPAL's objectives.

Tayebwa assured Among of his unwavering support, stating, "Count on our support as you deliver on this critical mandate."
