In celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11th, young girls are being encouraged to cultivate independence, productivity, and financial contribution, steering away from the traditional reliance on men for financial support.

Mrs. Sarah Nsereko Mirembe, a successful entrepreneur, shared her insights with the Nile post , emphasising the importance of financial independence for girls.

“There is no money as sweet as the one you have worked for yourself,” Mrs. Nsereko Mirembe remarked. “When you earn your own money, you account for it and manage it better than what is handed to you by others.”

She further urged women, particularly young girls, to embrace entrepreneurship. Whether starting small or managing a side hustle, Mrs. Nsereko Mirembe stressed the importance of resilience, passion, and delivering quality products and services.

Mrs. Nsereko Mirembe's personal journey as a businesswoman is a testament to the power of starting small and growing with dedication. As the proprietor of Food Boss, a now-thriving restaurant and catering business, she shared her humble beginnings.

“I started Food Boss out of my love for food. I opened a small restaurant, selling meals for as little as 2,000 Ugandan shillings. Today, we’ve grown significantly, with a main restaurant in Mengo and additional branches.”

Her business has expanded to provide catering services for weddings, introductions, birthdays, and other events. Through her dedication and love for her craft, Mrs. Nsereko Mirembe has turned her small venture into a thriving enterprise, serving as a role model for girls to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
