Woman who abandoned medication for prayer dies at Pastor’s home

Police in Pallisa District are investigating the death of a 29-year-old woman, Akurut Stella, who died at the home of Pastor Okupa Christopher in Apetete village on September 20, 2024.

Akurut has been suffering from anemia and was advised by a local clinic to seek a blood transfusion at Pallisa General Hospital. However, her family chose to take her to Pastor Okupa’s home for prayers instead.

Akurut's condition worsened during the seven days she spent at the pastor's home, and she eventually passed away. Police responded after the death was reported, and investigations are ongoing under case file PAL DEF 017/2024.

Her death was confirmed by Ag PRO Bukedi North SP Samuel Semewo who said the body has been taken to Pallisa General Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities are still gathering information to understand the circumstances surrounding Akurut’s death.

Polive are also investigating the murder of a 65-year-old woman. Nadome Ludia, was discovered murdered in her home in Buchera village, Kameke sub-county, Budaka District, on the morning of September 22, 2024.

Neighbors became concerned when Nadome, who lived alone, had not left her house by 10 a.m., leading one of them to check on her, only to find her lying in a pool of blood.

Police were alerted and swiftly began investigating the case, registering it under file CRB 56/2024. At the scene, officers discovered that Nadome’s hand and other body parts were missing, and a panga, suspected to have been used in the murder, was recovered.

The body has been sent to Mbale City Mortuary for a postmortem examination. Semewp confirmed the suspected murder.
