Tayebwa mediates Mitooma's Imaramagambo Forest boundary dispute
Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, has successfully mediated the resolution of a long-standing boundary dispute between the National Forestry Authority (NFA) and residents of Mitooma District, bringing an end to tensions over the Imaramagambo Forest boundaries.
The conflict, which involved the demarcation of forest boundaries in Kigyende and Kiyanga sub-counties, led to the destruction of properties and crops, sparking concerns among local residents.

“I’m pleased that we’ve resolved the issue, with the National Forestry Authority confirming that their boundaries do not extend onto people’s land,” Tayebwa announced after the agreement was reached.
The resolution followed a meeting that involved the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), NFA officials, Mitooma District Speaker Mr. Tumwekwatse Moses, and local stakeholders, all of whom were eager to address the concerns of affected communities.
Tayebwa also reassured residents that the situation had been addressed, noting that "overzealous surveyors" who exceeded the border demarcations of Queen Elizabeth National Park had been halted from further activity.
The Deputy Speaker's intervention has brought relief to communities that had been facing uncertainty and disruption due to the boundary confusion.
