Residents of Nsikye in Mbarara City South were left in shock last night when a devastating fire ravaged the MP Best Quality Feed Factory. The fire, which erupted around midnight, consumed the factory entirely, leaving nothing but ashes.

Rwizi Region Police spokesperson, Samson Kasasira, provided an update on the incident this morning. “According to the preliminary investigations, we have not ascertained the cause of the fire.

However, the people we have spoken to allege that it might have been arson. Someone went and started the fire,” Kasasira said.

This initial assessment suggests that the fire could have been deliberately set, though the exact cause remains under investigation.

The swift response of firefighting teams prevented the fire from spreading to neighbouring structures. “Our team worked tirelessly through the night to control the fire and ensure that it did not extend to other buildings,” Kasasira explained.

Despite their efforts, the factory was completely destroyed, and the extent of the damage has left the local community deeply concerned.

Speaking to NBS TELEVISION  Kasasira reported that they are actively working to determine what caused the fire that has destroyed thousands of items and assets within the factory, including valuable equipment, raw materials, and finished products, leaving the entire facility in ruins.

“We are thoroughly investigating the incident to identify the possible causes of the fire outbreak to prevent similar occurrences in the future,” he stated.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities piece together evidence and interview potential witnesses.

The loss of the MP Best Quality Feed Factory, a significant local business, has raised concerns about its impact on the community and the local economy.

The factory's destruction has left many questioning the broader implications for local businesses and their safety. As the investigation continues, the community and authorities await further developments in this troubling case.
