Two confirmed dead in a tragic accident in Katakwi
Two believers have died on sport after a struck this evening on the Katakwi-Soroti highway when a Fuso lorry, registration number UAL 522D, overturned.
Damali Nancha the Region police commander has confirmed in massages by press time two people dead and several others injured. The accident occurred at Abela, in Gwetom Sub-County, Katakwi District.
The lorry was reportedly carrying over 60 women and three men who were returning from a women’s conference in Katakwi. According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to over speeding, causing the truck to overturn.
Emergency response teams quickly arrived at the scene, and the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals. Some victims were taken to Katakwi Hospital, while others in critical condition were transferred to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital for further treatment.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been released, and the number of injured is still being confirmed. Authorities have launched an investigation into the accident.
