Mpuuga welcomes court ruling on service award, slams critics

The former Leader of Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga, has hailed the court ruling upholding the 1.7 billion shillings service award, saying it vindicates his team's argument that the payment was legally approved in Parliament.

Addressing a joint presser at Parliament, Mpuuga took a swipe at MPs leading the censure motion against the Commissioners, saying they are "clueless about Parliament rules and practices" and are thus "a burden to taxpayers."

"The court ruling has exposed the ignorance of some of leaders of National Unity Platforms and those leading the censure motion," Mpuuga said. "They have been making noise for eight months, trying to taint my image and reputation, but they have failed."

Mpuuga advised Ugandans to engage their brains and ears, not just their mouths, when discussing issues. "If they had used all the parts on their heads effectively, they wouldn't have orchestrated this baseless attack," he said.

The former Leader of Opposition expressed satisfaction with the court's decision, saying it confirms that the service award was legally approved. "We told them from the start that the payment was legitimate, but they refused to listen," Mpuuga said. "Now, the court has upheld our argument, and I hope this will put the matter to rest."
