Prioritise education, commercial farming- VP Alupo tells Pallisa

The Vice President Jessica Alupo Epel has called upon the residents of Pallisa District to prioritize education, emphasizing the importance of educating children to secure job opportunities.

Speaking while handing over four walking tractors to farmers of Gogonyo Palisa district, Alupo highlighted the significance of education, particularly for all boy and girls, and urged parents not to allow their children to drop out of school, reminding them of the availability of Universal Primary Education (UPE).

"No child should be out of school, whether boy or girl; all must remain in school," Alupo said,   underscoring the government’s commitment to ensuring every child has access to education.

During her visit, Vice President Alupo also encouraged the people of Pallisa to engage in commercial farming as a means to improve their livelihoods.

To support this initiative, she handed over four walking tractors to farmers of the four sub-counties to assist farmers in boosting agricultural productivity.

Additionally, she pledged to provide 1,000 hand hoes to the residents of Gogonyo to further aid their farming efforts.

Alupo also emphasized the importance of environmental conservation, urging locals to plant trees to mitigate the effects of climate change.

She advised the community to adopt better cattle-breeding practices by cross-breeding their cattle with superior breeds to enhance milk production.

The Vice President commended the residents of Pallisa for their efforts in combating gender-based violence (GBV) within families, recognizing their commitment to creating safer communities.

However, Gogonyo County Member of Parliament  Derick Orone highlighted the need for additional support for farmers. He called for the strengthening of farmers’ savings and credit cooperative organizations .
