As one of the ways to combat road accidents, Busiki chiefdom together with Namutumba district have embarked on sensitising the community through music, dance, and drama (MDD) with local schools competing to be crowned the best solution providers.
On Tuesday, eight schools participated in the district school music, dance and drama challenge which was held at Nabikabara primary school where they exhibited several skills, as well as creativity in addressing local challenges.
The competitions were held under the theme, “The fight on road accidents , birth registration and malaria control”.
During the competitions, the learners exhibited high level of communication skills, showcased the different ways of fighting road accident and also preaching birth registration for NIN number through MDD.
Peter Kagwa, the deputy prime minister Busiki chiefdom who was also the guest of honour told Nile post that the MDD competition helped in talent identification, which he said should be continued up to the university level.
“I have seen confidence building, exposure, physical fitness, and creativity being demonstrated. I was happy to see children being taught how to fight road accidents and also encouraging their parents to take them for birth registration,” he said.
Kagwa also appreciated the district together with the chiefdom for organising the MDD competition, saying it provided the a platform to provide solutions to the increased road accidents.
“Through MDD, students have been able to provide solutions to raod accidents such as following road signs and avoiding driving while drunk. I commend the them," Kagwa said.
