Nwoya district rallies behind Contract Farming Bill
In a bid to revolutionize the agricultural sector, officials from Nwoya District Local Government, led by Chief Administrative Officer Jenipher Nantume Egunyu, have urged lawmakers to fast-track the processing of the Contract Farming Bill 2024.
The bill, championed by Kimanya-Kabonera legislator Dr. Abed Bwanika, promises to transform the lives of rural farmers in Nwoya and beyond by providing timely access to essential inputs like seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural equipment.

During a meeting with the agriculture committee, the officials and farmers expressed their unwavering support for the bill, citing its potential to increase productivity and sustainability in the farming sector.
They also took the opportunity to express their heartfelt gratitude to National Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation, Gen. Salim Saleh, for his instrumental role in steering agricultural development in Northern Uganda.
"Gen. Salim Saleh has been a game-changer for us," said Jenipher Nantume Egunyu.
"His support has enabled us to access markets, inputs, and expertise, which has significantly improved our farming practices."
The farmers in attendance echoed Egunyu's sentiments, praising Gen. Saleh for his dedication to their cause.
"We are grateful for his unwavering support," said one farmer. "He has helped us to see the value in our land and our labor."
With the Contract Farming Bill 2024, the future of agriculture in Nwoya and beyond looks brighter than ever.
