Maj Okurun: Body of fallen UPDF officer arrives in Tororo for burial

Tororo is mourning the loss of Major Godfrey Ochola Okuron, who died in Tanzania where he had gone for official training.

The late Maj Okuron was one of the highly decorated military officer who dedicated his life to serving his country and his community.

The body of the late Maj Okuron was received with somber songs and prayers as it arrived at sacred heart church Tororo where a requiem mass was held in honor of his service to the church.

A large crowd, including the family members, friends, and fellow military officers, filled up the church to pay their respects and bid farewell to the fallen hero who had impacted many lives through his selfless service.

Speaking at the requiem mass, the deceased' father, Gabriel Ochola, described his son Okuron as a dedicated and courageous person who served his country with distinction

The cultural leader of Tieng Adhola cultural institution, his highness, Moses Stephen Owor remained gratitude to the NRM government for the opportunity they gave their son to service the nation.

"We thank President Museveni for trusting our children to serve in sensitive positions. We send our condolences to the members of the Airforce for this huge loss," said Kwari Adhola, Moses Owor.

Tieng Adhola also praised Okuron for his role in maintaining peace and security in the country and his tireless efforts in community development projects.

Maj Alex Kijumba Asiimwe, the political commissioner UPDF assured mourners that government is to take care of all burial expenses to relieve family.

"UPDF has taken care of all burial expenses. We have also raised some money to be handed over to the family at appropriate time," said Maj Kijumba.

The body of the late Maj Okuron will be laid to rest tomorrow in his ancestral home in Amagoro A" village, Eastern division Tororo Municipality.
