Singer Alexander Bagonza alias A Pass has distanced himself from a poster that shows he will be performing at President Museveni welcoming event in Mitooma district.
In a poster making rounds on social media, A Pass appeared on the lineup of acts set to perform at an event organised by the Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa and his father to welcome the President in Ruhinda North, Mitooma.
A Pass' appearance on the poster had triggered criticism from some netizens especially those inclined to his friend and Museveni's rival, Robert Kyagulanyi.
The poster in question also features common faces in the music industry including Bebe Cool, Jose Chameleone, Eddy Kenzo among others.
However, in a video clip shared on his social media platforms, A Pass says he was not aware of the poster until it appeared on X (formerly Twitter).
The 'Gamululu' singer further said he has no agreement in place with anyone to perform at the said event.
"I also saw the poster on Twitter (X). I didn't know about it. I was contacted by my lawyer that a friend of mine wanted me to perform at his dad's thanksgiving, he is making 80 years, and the friend of mine is a friend to Hon Tayebwa and I was supposed to perform on Sunday. All of a sudden a poster on Twitter (X) and it has me supposed to perform where Rt Hon (Deputy Speaker Tayebwa) is welcoming the President, and I personally do not perform on anything political," A Pass said.
The singer said that he has not been booked for such an event and maintained he will not be among the performers of the day.
"I was not booked for anything like that. I was not paid for anything like that and I am not performing at anything like that. So, don't throw around words when you do not know the whole story because I also didn't know what was happening," he said
Museveni is expected in Mitooma this Sunday at Rwakitandara playground to join Tayebwa's father, Daudi Bangirana who will be hosting a thanksgiving ceremony for his 80th birthday.
The event is to be attended by a number of dignitaries including the Archbishop of Mbarara, Lambert Bainomugisha
