Mubende Police sorry for unfair community enforcements
Following the recent appointments and changes made by police, Mubende DPC Ayatollah Capchemuti and the DCIO Peter Wabendo were among the new appointments.
Kapchemuti was transferred to Kampala Metropolitan South as a Deputy Police Commander while Wabendo as the new Kampala Metropolitan North Crime Intelligence Officer.
While at the farewell party organised by Mubende community, the district chairperson, Mr Michael Ntambi, applauds the tremendous work done by Kapuchemuti and Wabendo in the fight against land grabbing.
The duo was posted to Mubende in 2021.
"It's on record that you have fought land grabbing in the district that's why I am so grateful as the district chairperson," Ntambi said.
He said Wabendo crushed thugs who used to terrorise residents on the streets.
"Our DCIO Peter really fought a big battle of arresting the gang of thieves who had become a hard nut to crack but I remember we did an enforcement and many were arrested so thank you for good work done," he added.
Richard Habuzirweki, the district speaker, appreciated the duo for the amazing work, recalling how Kapchemuti was engaged during Ebola outbreak.
"I can't tell how Ayatollah fought Ebola because we used to go to hard to reach areas sensitising locals but he was so hardworking until we were were declared Ebola-free," Habuzirweki said.
Caroline Byakutaaga, the Chief Magistrate Mubende Court, said the duo was good to work with as they cooperated with the Judiciary.
"If you want to know the definition of cooperation, determination and hard-work, it's Ayatollah. I could even call him late night for inquiries and he would politely receive my calls and help me," she said.
"As Judiciary, we cannot forget you because you have been so good to us and the district is going to miss you the two."
In his remarks, Wabendo thanked the Mubende community an the media fraternity for being so professional.
"I would like to thank the media for the cooperation, actually I had never worked with a better a team," he said.
He recommended the media to the Wamala Region Police Commander Vincent Tumwesigye.
"RPC, I would like to recommend journalists in Mubende and let's use them because they have been so professional, in most cases they been consulting me in of anything before publishing," he said.
Turning to Ms Rachael Kawala, the Wamala Region Police spokesperson, Wabendo added: "You really have a good team of journalists."
Kapuchemuti said the cooperation of the community made their work easier, adding that it was probably the support of the community that has helped get redeployed to the capital.
He appologised to those that were harmed during Police's ways of operations, saying they might have annoyed people unintentionally.
