Stop abusing Museveni over corruption - Tayebwa
Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa has asked Ugandans to stop abusing President Museveni over the corruption of legislators.
Mr Tayebwa, who was speaking at the 40th year celebration ceremony of Sacred Heart Seminary in Mubende District, urged the people to instead report corrupt officials to help the government fight the vice.
"Llet's all report any case of corruption to enable the government know who is supporting corruption because our country needs to cater for the citizens," he said.
Tayebwa also said he was tired of seeing Ugandans of complain about his salary.
"People always attack me over my salary, you can imagine someone says that I am paid Shs130 million for attires which is not true," he said.
"Parliament gives me a woolen wig which itches me, that's why whenever in session you see scratching my head and on top of that, they gave me a gown as if I am in a choir."
The deputy speaker said it was embarrassing that all MPs are considered corrupt yet some are so holy and grew up from good families.
The celebrations also attended by the Buganda's Minister for Local government Joseph Kawuuki, who also expressed worry about moral decay in the country and urged parents to revamp their role of proper parenting.
"Almost everyone is doing something ugly, that's why we have many cases of corruption, rape, murder and others," Kawuuki said.
Hope Grania Nakazibwe, the Woman MP Mubende, said as Parliament they are not going to stop fighting corruption.
Bishop Anthony Zziwa, who led the celebratory mass, encouraged school owners to embrace seminary norms.
"If we want to have productive Ugandans, lets embrace seminary norms because here we groom students that's when our country will have good-hearted people," Zziwa said.
At the event, Tayebwa contributed Shs40 million to support the school.
